Motion Amplification is the newest technology to appear on the Condition Monitoring landscape. This brand new video processing technique uses high definition video coupled with vibration analysis to deliver a very visual way of diagnosing machine faults. As a camera is used rather than a standard sensor the vibration data can be gathered remotely with no contact required with the asset. As well as providing vibration data the unique software can amplify the movement of the unit monitored. This allows the analyst to easily determine how the machine is moving and can highlight problems such as cracked bases, misalignment, and resonant pipe work to name but a few.
